# Desktop background

> Put your own PNG image on the sandbox desktop.

## Set your own background

1. Put a PNG file at `~/.config/boat/wallpaper.png` on the sandbox.
2. The desktop shows it at once.

The image stays after a stop, a resume and a fork. To go back to the default background, delete the file.

## Image limits

| Limit | Value |
| - | - |
| Format | PNG |
| File size | 16 MiB or less |
| Width or height | 8192 pixels or less |
| Total pixels | 16,777,216 or less (for example 4096x4096) |

The image fills the screen and keeps its aspect ratio. If the file is not a valid PNG, the desktop keeps the default background.
