# Pre-installed tools

> The coding agents, languages, version control tools and utilities on every sandbox.

The OS is Ubuntu 24.04. Know these defaults before you run CI jobs:

| Setting | Value | What to do |
| - | - | - |
| `LANG` and `LC_ALL` | `en_US.UTF-8` | `sort` orders lines differently from a `C.UTF-8` machine. To match one, set `LC_ALL=C.UTF-8` in your job. |
| `git` | 2.43 | If your CI actions need a newer version, install it. |

## AI & automation

| Tool | Description |
| - | - |
| `claude` | Claude Code CLI, an AI coding assistant |
| `codex` | OpenAI Codex CLI |
| `pi` | Pi coding agent ([pi.dev](https://pi.dev)) |
| `opencode` | OpenCode terminal coding agent |
| `hermes` | Hermes Agent by Nous Research (browser tools not preinstalled: `hermes` offers to add them) |
| `openclaw` | OpenClaw CLI (gateway not started; run `openclaw gateway` yourself if you want it) |
| `agent` / `cursor-agent` | Cursor CLI agent |
| `prime-agent` | Prime Intellect's Prime Agent |
| `kimi` | Kimi Code CLI by Moonshot AI |
| `vibe` | Mistral Vibe by Mistral AI (`--provider mistral`) |
| `host` | Expose localhost services to the internet |
| `lux` | Desktop and browser automation with demo recording |
| `boat` | Boat CLI inside the sandbox |

* These harnesses are installed system-wide, in `/usr/local` and `/opt`.
* They take no space in your snapshots. They come back after a stop and resume.
* Each harness signs in with its own `login` command.
* Today, `boat prompt` and the Agents page drive `claude` and `codex`.
* You can install your own copy, for example with `npm i -g` or the vendor installer into `~/.local/bin`. Your copy hides the preinstalled one. Your snapshots keep it as usual.
